Welcome to Mount Vernon, home to Mark and Ally Helmore and County Clare’s only historic house offering accommodation; a lovely Georgian villa of immense charm and interest built in 1788 on the Burren coastline of County Clare with fine views over Galway Bay and the surrounding area. In recent years the house has been carefully restored to provide stylish and luxurious modern accommodation while retaining its original character and charm.

The reception rooms contain fine antique furniture, paintings and vibrant artefacts collected from their world travels which combine delightfully with the calm and understated greens and golds with which the house has been decorated.

From the sitting room the eclectic library, which contains numerous books of local interest, opens into a walled garden of terraces, herbaceous borders and some huge trees believed to have been a gift from George Washington.
